Internet Communications Corp.'s new vice president is also named general manager for voice division.

GREENWOOD VILLAGE, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 21, 1997-- Internet Communications Corporation, a leading network integrator, announced the appointment of John Couzens, president of Interwest Communications, as Vice President of Internet Communications Corp., an open position for the corporation for some time.

In addition, Couzens will assume the newly created roll of General Manager for Voice Systems.

Thomas C. Galley, chief executive officer, stated, "Consistent with our objectives to strengthen and promote our business plan, I am pleased that John has accepted the roll of vice president of the corporation. In addition, John has taken on the responsibility of general manager for the voice systems division. John's experience in the voice area is essential to both maintaining our leadership position for voice systems in the Colorado market, as well as furthering our ability to provide turn-key communications solutions to our customers on a local and national level."

According to Couzens, "The voice market, prior to our merger with Internet, was pulling voice systems sales into the data communications area, and platforms required unique competencies which Interwest did not have. Because the demand for a total communications solution is growing, our merger made sense, and has since been validated."

He went on to say, "There remain fundamental differences, however, in the way voice and data businesses operate and while demand for a turn-key solution exists, robust markets continue to exist for each of our core competencies. Our success going forward will be predicated on our ability to integrate our capabilities when it makes sense. We're in a great market; we've got great customers. We now need to demonstrate that we can make steady, predictable earnings. That is the currency for growth, both in attracting acquisition candidates and fueling internal growth."

Couzens has been president of Interwest since April, 1996 and prior to that was vice president and chief financial officer of Interwest Group. Before joining Interwest, Couzens was vice president and division manager at The Northern Trust Company.
