Qld: Two dead in horror day on roads

BRISBANE, Aug 11 AAP - Two men are dead and four other people have been injured in
a horror day on Queensland roads.

Police say an elderly man was killed and three other people were taken to hospital
after an accident at Rockhampton, on the central Queensland coast.

Two cars collided at the intersection of Yaamba and Richardson Roads at north Rockhampton
just before 11.30am (AEST).

Another man was killed and a woman seriously injured when their vehicle rolled on the
Bruce Highway at Kallangur, on Brisbane's northern outskirts around 2pm (AEST).

A third man also died in hospital today after an accident last Friday on Brisbane's northside.

Police said 57-year-old Leonard James Harker from Chermside was trapped underneath
his car when he tried to stop it from rolling backwards down his driveway onto Rode Road
at Chermside.

He was pinned beneath the vehicle before being freed by emergency services workers
and rushed to hospital in a critical condition.
