Vic: Woman dies after car hit by trailer

MELBOURNE, Dec 19 AAP - A woman has been killed after her car was struck by a trailer
that had disconnected from a car in Victoria's north-west.

Police said an Isuzu utility was towing a fruit bin trailer when it came loose and
started swerving from side to side, about 8pm (AEDT) on Thursday, on Woorinen Road, in
Swan Hill.

The trailer disconnected from the ute, crossed over to the wrong side of the road and
collided with the driver's side of a Mazda sedan.

The driver of the Mazda, a 30-year-old Swan Hill woman, suffered severe injuries and
was pronounced dead at Swan Hill hospital and her 28-year-old female passenger was treated
for shock.

The driver of the ute, a 37-year-old Swan Hill man, has been assisting police with
their inquiries.

The fatality takes Victoria's road toll to 294, compared to 316 for the same time last year.
