Personal Investment Authority

Personal Investment Authority (PIA) A Self-Regulating Organization that took over most of the responsibilities of the Financial Intermediaries, Managers and Brokers Regulatory Association (FIMBRA) and the Life Assurance and Unit Trust Regulatory Organization (LAUTRO) in 1994. Its remit was to regulate investment business carried out mainly with or for private investors. The PIA was absorbed into the Financial Services Authority in December 2001.
