NSW: Parks evacuated, closed as bushfires rage nearby

About 3,000 visitors have been evacuated from the Royal National Park in Sydney's south
and hundreds of others have been sent packing from picnic grounds as bushfires rage nearby.

The National Parks and Wildlife Service has evacuated four national parks and closed
most parks and reserves in the greater Sydney area, Blue Mountains, Illawarra and the
Central Coast.

It says the parks will remain closed until further notice with a few exceptions including
the Sydney Harbour National Park and the Botany Bay National Park.

Walking tracks and remote camping areas in bushland regions are also closed until further notice.

About 70 bushfires are raging across the state with homes destroyed in Sydney's west
and at Huskisson on the New South Wales south coast.
